25 years after first carpet cleaning as a student, Shane Burns is back cleaning carpets better than ever before. Experience of Whangarei carpet cleaners responding to two separate incidents at his family home during the 2006 Northland floods highlighted the huge variation in the quality of service locally available and Shane is determined that Super Clean will outperform every other carpet cleaning option in Whangarei. In his words, “Every customer deserves the best service we can offer, regardless of how much they or their insurance company is paying for it. To me, it is a matter of integrity and personal satisfaction to ensure we approach every job as if it is the most important one we have ever done.”
The great quality Shane talks about is not just by his own standards either. Much time and thousands of dollars have been invested in training and being tested to receive certification from the international authority on carpet cleaning – the USA based IICRC (Institute of Inspection, Carpet Restoration and Cleaning) Cleaning processes are done in accordance with the NZ standard – NZS3373:1995, and all work is covered by Super Clean’s Satisfaction Guarantee*. In addition, Shane has invested heavily in world class van mounted machinery which he believes is as good as or better than the equipment of any other carpet cleaner in Northland. Importantly, high powered suction ensures the removal of dirt along with a great deal of the moisture introduced during the cleaning process so carpet and upholstery is never left sopping wet and therefore dries relatively quickly. “I can talk about quality all day but so can anyone when trying to promote their own business. It is much more powerful to live this quest for quality every day and it’s gratifying to receive so much positive feedback and repeat business from happy customers”. Shane claims to be “proudly local”, but just how local is he? “My children are the 5th generation on both sides of my family to have called
Whangarei “home” at some stage. While we only moved here in 2000, it really was like returning home as my surviving grandmother along with all aunts and uncles on both sides of the family and literally dozens, possibly hundreds, of extended family members were still living in and around Whangarei. I even see my dad’s name up on the Whangarei Boys’ High Honours Board for his athletic exploits back in the 1950’s! As for my immediate family, all 4 of our children were born here (as were 2 of my siblings) and we love it here.”
In addition to running Super Clean, Shane continues to be involved in the community in numerous ways, including:
- a leadership role within the Salvation Army and playing in the band. You might have seen him playing a tuba on the back of a truck at Christmas time;
- Kaurihohore Board of Trustees since 2008
- Former conductor of the Whangarei Youth Music Concert Band
- Conducting the Field of Remembrance band and choir at Laurie Hall Park prior to ANZAC Day 2011 & 2013
- Actively involved in raising 4 great kids with Sally (who is a stay at home mum + Mary Kay Independent Beauty Consultant) including participation in numerous school activities.
